The Apple Store in London's Covent Garden was reportedly raided by robbers on motorbikes in the early hours of Monday morning.
Rob Shoesmith, who is camping out outside the store in preparation for Friday's iPhone 4S launch, wrote that four motorbikes were used in the raid which took place at around 1.15am.
On his blog, Shoesmith wrote that he had been fast asleep when the raid happened but was woken by the sound of alarms. Police were on the scene soon afterwards.
The Guardian reports that two people - a 16-year-old male and 21-year-old male - have subsequently been arrested.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Tozer of Westminster CID said: "Although two men are in custody on suspicion of burglary, the inquiry continues and other persons are sought. It is essential that anyone who saw the smash and grab, or the suspects making off, contact us as soon as possible."
The exact value of good stolen isn't known, but iPads were thought to be among the raiders' haul.
We'll bring you more information about the raid as soon as we have it.

Let's hope they get caught and SEVERELY delt with.
They should also be made to pay for ALL the damages caused, and if they can't afford it, then their houses should be seized and sold to pay for the clean up costs and the associated costs in the activities made by the police in an order to catch them.
If I knew anything, I would happily drop them in the 's**t' just to teach them a lesson. Grrrrrrrrr

Apple should publish all stolen serial numbers, so if any are bought on ebay... etc... the numbers can be double checked.
Ideally the device itself should check against an online list of stolen serial numbers and display a message if it's stolen. Too late to add to iOS 5 ?

Why didn't they wait until after the iPhone4S goes on sale? Either these guys are just thick or this was a "steal to order" job.
Or, if they were that desperate to own an Apple product, it would be easier for them just to sell one of their kidneys...
