Apple has introduced a text message alerts service to help US customers keep track of their Apple Store orders.
The new update service introduced today after a six hour-long period of Online Apple Store downtime. “Apple Notifications is a text-message based alerts service designed to keep you up-to-date on your shipment and/or notification status,” reads Apple’s website. “In addition to standard email notifications, you can also request text message updates when you’re in Checkout. The number of messages you receive will vary depending on the orders you placed.”
Apple says that the messages will be sent when an order ships, or is available for pickup, and the messages will only be received between 8.00am and 9.00pm in your local time zone.
Users will be able to turn off the text notifications by replying “STOP” to the text message.

Despite the Apple Store being down across the globe, it looks like only the US will be able to benefit from this new service for now.
