NAMM: You're in Mac Country now

Macs are everywhere apparent at a key music trade show in the US, with vendors across the board using them to demo software, tools and services at their stands.

NAMM, the largest North American music show held this time every year in Anaheim, brings vendors from all over the world to show their products. From software instruments and amplifiers to guitars and digital audio workstations, you are sure to find it at all this show. One other prevalent thing you'll find at NAMM this year is Macs.

The MacBook Air is undoubtedly a pretty impressive technical achievement. And speaking as somebody who’s just been holding one; I promise you that you’ll be blown away when you first pick one up.

The Macworld team has arrived at San Francisco and here are the first shots of the event. It’s still under construction as the attendees put the final touches on their stands, and the Apple stand is completely blocked off and shrouded in black cloth.

The show itself kicks off tomorrow at 9am Pacific Time (6pm Greenwich Mean Time). We’ll be reporting live from the event.

Can Macs conquer the enterprise?

If Apple were a football team, the New England Patriots would have had some serious competition this year.

The company is the undefeated king of cool in the consumer electronics and home computer markets. It is rapidly gaining yardage in the broader personal computing market and is experiencing a resurgence of popularity in traditional Macintosh niches such as education, marketing and creative departments.

Are games a good fit for the iPhone

During a panel session on mobile gaming, one analyst suggested that the iPhone hasn’t been very good for the gaming market, at least in the short term. But I'm wondering if it'll ever be a good format to play games on.

Merry Christmas, love Apple...

Look, Apple left us a Christmas present under the tree. On the 24th of December we discovered an Apple patent for its own version of the hateful Windows Genuine Advantage system. Did Apple think we wouldn’t notice?

Well, it was wrong. Not only did we pick up on the story at the time, but I made a mental note on Christmas day to return to it in the New Year. After all, some of you may have missed this during the yuletide festivities, or been too full of turkey to care.
