iPod shocker

Just a month or so ago the web was awash with stories of how a soldier claimed his life was saved when a bullet became embedded in his iPod rather than his chest.

Today everyone is talking about a Canadian jogger was injured when their iPod was struck by lightening.

The jogger suffered chest and neck burns, ruptured eardrums and a broken jaw when lightning traveled through his music player’s wires.

Of course there are two sides to every story. The iPod didn't stop the bullet, the armoured clothing did, and in the case of the lightening, the iPod didn't attract the bolt, although it did channel the electricity through the headphones (it's not clear whether these were Apple's own headphones or another breed).

So the moral of the story is, don't expect your iPod to be your bodyguard.
