More geek apparel anyone? A company called Flashwear has launched a range billed as the world’s first illuminating t-shirts.

One of various licensed t-qualisers, including t-shirts featuring Space Invaders, the range is being positioned as a summer festival "must have," as long as you remember to pack the AAA batteries.

Flashwear products are made using a technology called electroluminescence (EL), which is a flat panel coated in phosphor that lights up when charged with a small amount of electricity. It is the same technology that is used to illuminate many car dashboards. The flat flexible nature means that it can be easily attached to the material of clothes and other apparel according to Flashwear.

"The t-qualizer has been a great product for us over the last few years and we have really wanted to take it from being a one hit novelty to making it more a mainstream product. Licensing we feel is the best option and what better licences to kick off with than Star Wars and Space Invader," said Simon Parkes of Flashwear.

"We put the shirts on our site and unsurprisingly saw it out selling our other designs."

The illuminating Star Wars shirt from Flashwear costs £29.99. More details at www.flashwear.com.
