Quark welcomes report by IT Enquirer rating Web and interactive capabilities in leading Page Layout Applications

Denver, CO – 13th July 2010 – Quark Inc. today welcomed the results of an independent report by cross-media publishing experts at IT Enquirer rating QuarkXPress® 8 better than InDesign CS5 for Web authoring and interactive design in nine out of ten different project categories.

“Despite advances by the competition, it’s great to see that QuarkXPress 8 continues to lead the way when it comes to making Web and Flash design easy for design professionals.” said Gavin Drake, Quark’s Vice President of Marketing. “As the market continues to evolve and indeed accelerate towards digital publishing, it’s critical that print designers continue to play a central role in the design process and don’t find themselves pushed out in favour of developers.

As our recent announcements around Digital Publishing 2.0 demonstrate, Quark is committed to solving challenges in digital publishing for both large and small organisations as well as for individual designers.”

The report by IT Enquirer finds QuarkXPress 8 better than InDesign CS5 in 9 out of 10 common Web and interactive project types, such as portfolio and product microsites, banner advertisements, presentations and digital signage.

The report (available for free on IT Enquirer’s website at http://it-enquirer.com/ ) also describes Quark’s approach as focused on user empowerment and Quark’s Digital Publishing 2.0 capabilities as key to the future of publishing.

“With more than two decades of expertise in publishing and millions of customers globally, Quark is uniquely positioned to deliver complete digital publishing solutions to meet the needs of the industry not just now, but well into the future. Later this year designers will even be able to export design-rich, interactive content to the Blio eReader directly from QuarkXPress, enabling their designs to reach brand new audiences on a growing number of next generation digital devices.” concludes Drake.
