Good to see the team behind the excellent NPR News application announce an iTunes Store update and one million plus downloads.
Just last month, the application was a Macworld Editors' Choice and we profiled Bottle Rocket, the iPhone developers responsible for the application over a lengthy, insightful Q&A.
For almost forty years National Public Radio (NPR) has broadcast news, current affairs and all things cultural, via around 800 public radio stations, across the US. The NPR News iPhone and iPod application offers a snap shot of the service, a chance to catch up with stories or simply listen live away from your Mac or PC.
The 1.1 update adds the ability to pause radio programs, fast forward and rewind radio programs, pinch-zoom news story images and share news stories via Facebook, Twitter or email, all useful user suggested additions.

Although NPR Radio is free, the one million downloads in less than a month is impressive. It shows iPhone owners want more than just games or fun-but-throwaway applications.
"We dig in deep and push hard on every aspect of the project to make sure it's the best it can possibly be", said Calvin Carter, President of Bottle Rocket Apps. "The success of this app is a combination of our unique design process, NPR’s amazing content and our shared focus on what the user wants."
Available from the Apple iTunes App Store, the 1.1 update to NPR News is free and requires the iPhone 2.0 Software Update.
Needless to say, it comes highly recommended.
