A giant Apple retail store is set to land in Covent Garden, occupying space formerly used by the Rock Garden.

A report from Estates Gazette claims the Apple deal will anchor regeneration of the area. The three-storey Apple store will extend across 25,000 square feet.

Apple needs the second store to cope with growing demand for its products, the report explains. Apple is leasing the store from Capital and Countries (CapCo), a subsidiary of Liberty International.

Apple has already achieved approval for the plan from its board and has signed "heads of terms" with CapCo for the deal.

A source said: "This will be one of the biggest lettings Covent Garden has ever achieved and at a very high rent."
