Thu, 01 May 2008 Steve Jobs makes Time 100 list
Apple CEO Steve Jobs among the world's 100 most influential people, says Time magazine
Apple CEO Steve Jobs is rubbing shoulders with the Dalai Lama in the Time 100 list of the world’s most influential people.
Other technology-related names on the exclusive list include Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen, Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and renowned tech blogger, Michael Arrington.
Time’s report on Steve Jobs, written by Barbara Kiviat, reads: “Jobs may be a celebrity CEO, but he doesn't jump out of airplanes or traipse around Africa with bundles of cash. He is always in character and always on message, so much so that when late-night TV parodies him, he's invariably rolling out some new iProduct . Jobs gets called mercurial, egomaniacal, a micromanager. If that sounds a little like a CEO doing his job, maybe that's because he is - and a mighty fine one.”
Former Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki has written the entry for Ballmer, saying: “If you want 95 per cent of the wallets of every market that you’re in, then you want this Steve. If you want the 95 per cent of the mind share of every market that you’re in, then you want the other Steve (Jobs). ... Whether you like the company or not, give credit where credit is due: Steve Ballmer kicks ass.”
