Amazon has taken a leaf out of Apple’s book and is now allowing developers to offer in-app purchases.
Like Apple, Amazon will take a 30 per cent cut of each transaction. It will use Amazon’s 1-Click payment platform. (More below)
All Things D explains that the move is significant to Amazon’s developers because Amazon dictates how much an app sells for, even making apps free as part of the Free App of the Day promotion. This can affect a developers’ revenue stream on a product.
Now developers and publishers will be able to set their own prices.
The Amazon Appstore runs on the Kindle Fire and a number of Android handsets.
