Last.fm site upgrade delivers many new features

Social music network Last.fm has redesigned its website, boosting the service with a slew of new features.

The company - which now offers the world's biggest catalogue of free streaming music online - also stressed its move toward a device agnostic vision for connecting users.

Last week’s introduction of an iPhone application, which lets users stream tracks to their phone, was specifically mentioned as a way to keep Last.fm users connected to their music.

"The next stage of the Last.fm story is all about making this incredible online music experience even more compelling and accessible to everyone, wherever they want to discover new music." the company said.

New site features include:

- A new Library tool, into which users can place songs or artists in order to build their music profile.

- Instant Recommendations: no need to listen to music to build recommendations. Search for artists and click “Add to Library” for instant music and event recommendations.

- Real-Time Chart Updates: listen to a song, and the charts on your profile immediately reflect sthe play. Your recommendations update in real–time.
