FoneLink software now allows Mac OS X to support Sony Ericsson phones.
nova media's FoneLink software now allows Mac OS X to support Sony Ericsson phones.
FoneLink is a Mac-like user interface for exchanging files, music, photos and videos between a Mac and Sony Ericsson mobiles. The suite allows users to synchronize organizer data and iTunes playlists, create ringtones, manage SMS text messages and to back-up and restore phone contents.
The software will automatically convert music, videos and photos on a Mac to formats that are instantly viewable and playable on the phone. iTunes playlists can be synchronized and there's a ringtone editor.
"FoneLink 2.1 supports more than 70 cell phones from Sony Ericsson, including the latest models." said Jan Fuellemann, PR spokesperson at nova media. "The software features a Bluetooth assistant to pair a phone to the Macintosh computer in one step.""
FoneLink requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later and costs €33.57 (excluding VAT). A demo version is available.

That is shockingly expensive for what it does!

I expect Sony Ericsson to pay me for that programme. It should have been in my phone package to begin with.
Hans said on Thu, 07 Aug 2008
Pay for that? Shove it, deep. No, I mean deeper.
Fuellemann said on Thu, 07 Aug 2008
Hi,
use it, do not shove it :-) As it does much more than just sync your data and once you use it - if only for text messaging, you won´t stop.
It is a maclike phone experience for the rest of us and yes, as always, you have to pay for quality - or need much more time and hassle for other solutions ....

my Mac and SE phones have worked fine together for years, doing a lot of this stuff already. Why pay for it?

This application is shockingly expensive! For syncing a mac and an unsupported SE phone, just check feisar, their software costs just 3€ and works with Leopard.

Its true, SE should ship their phones with mac software included, not just a windows CD. In a way their supporting Microsoft's monopoly. Great idea and too expensive. Also too late - ive bought an iPhone 3G thats coming in a couple of days.

Bit of a deceptive headline as Macs have supported Sony Ericsson phones since at least the T68i in 2001.
Some models aren't supported, especially lately where Apple hasn't updated iSync in ages but as a whole, the headline is inaccurate.

I'm still using a SE p910i with my Mac and iSync successfully and have been doing for about 4 years. apple.com/macosx/features/isync lists all the devices and functions for all phones that will work with it. (I don't use music on my phone so can't comment on that!)

I agree with others above, all my SE phones have been able to sync with my iTunes library, just drag & drop, and use any of the songs for ringtones and alarms - no need to pay for any of it.
