Apple has completed restoration of mail service to the claimed one per cent of MobileMe customers that found themselves without email.

"We have completed restoring Mail service, including historical messages, to all of the 1% of affected members. Thank you all for your extreme patience during this trying time. If you have been affected by this issue and are still having problems we have established a dedicated chat line to reach a MobileMe Mail specialist for help," Apple explains. "

The company also confirmed it has found another bug, this time a syncing bug, which caused contact and calendar data to not sync properly over-the-air with iPhones and iPod touch.

"For some users this caused their contact and calendar data to disappear from their devices, but not from their computers or the MobileMe cloud. When we fixed the bug in the late afternoon, the problem resolved itself for most users: their data simply reappeared on their iPhone or iPod Touch. If you are one of those affected users and your data has not automatically reappeared, follow the steps at this link to restore your data."

This whole fiasco with the switch over from .mac to mobile me has been awful, I along with may others have been without email for 10 days, certainly not what I would expect from a company like Apple. I do get the feeling that loyal mac users like myself are being sidelined because of new profitable technologies like the iPhone. I hope Apple doesn't forget who we are entirely.

I signed up for the mobileme trial as soon as it was launched.
Even without the teething troubles it still had major problems (such as adding four calendars to my work computer (a PC) in Outlook so to check my availability I'd have to check four calendars!
I liked the idea of the service and was loving using imap email for the first time (how did I ever manage with POP?) but it got me thinking, was a half functioning service really worth £59 a year? So I started looking into other options...after much research I decided to give Google mail, contacts, gallery and calendars a go...all of these were free, I've paid a small one off fee for a 3rd party sync app and all my troubles have been solved...and the webmail even allows you to set a different 'reply-to' address which is essential to me as I handle emails from a domain name email account.
I well recommend this route to anyone who doesn't want to be ripped off for a sub-standard service.

How about a refund, or an extension of the subscription period for the time it has taken to get it right. It has been shades of another software company that I thought I had left behind at work.
