Asus isn’t a well-known name in the Mac market, as the company generally concentrates on making components and peripherals for PCs. However, its new LS221H monitor is a stylish and affordable alternative to Apple’s own range of Cinema displays.

Asus claims that the LS221H – which is wrapped up in a glossy black casing and finished off with some tasteful leather trim – is the slimmest 22in monitor in the world. It has 1,680 x 1,050 resolution and includes special preset modes to enhance the appearance of skin tones when you’re watching home movies or DVD films. The price is pretty good too – just £270, compared with £399 for Apple’s smaller 20in Cinema display.
