Wed, 04 Nov 2009 TalkTalk intros 24Mbps TalkTalk Pro, promises cheaper deals than BT
TalkTalk Pro will be available to the ISP's 4 million customers from November
TalkTalk is launching a new high performance package called TalkTalk Pro.
The company claims the deal is £200 cheaper than the equivalent BT package.
TalkTalk Pro, which costs £14.99 per month, offers broadband speeds of up to 24Mbps and unlimited download limits along with a free 'N' wireless router and free calls to UK landlines, as well as 0845 and 0870 numbers.
The deal is subject to an 18-month contract and users will also be required to pay a monthly line rental of £11.25.
The ISP says the deal is over £150 cheaper than similar offerings from Virgin and £300 less than Sky's Unlimited package.
TalkTalk's Tristia Clarke said: "Once again TalkTalk is challenging the market and providing unbeatable value by offering a premium broadband product at a much lower price than its competitors' packages."
TalkTalk says the package will appeal to 'Digital Extroverts' or early adopters of new technologies and services, who regularly upload content online and view the internet as essential to their daily lives.

Fantastic! Or is it?
Rolling out to 85% of the UK... and with me working 3 miles from the exchange of a large town, this isn't available.
I guess we're one of the unlucky 15% who still get TalkTalk's crummy sub-megabit broadband then... not only that, it took 20 minutes on the phone for them to find that out for me.

Meanwhile those not on their 'unlimited' package are being threatened with an 'excessive download' charge. When challenged on 'how' users can know precisely how many gigabytes they have used at any point in time, TalkTalk admit they can't, it's impossible today. I've started a petition to try and get TalkTalk to sort themselves out, this is otherwise highway robbery. They actually rang me to try and upsell me to this new pakage, subtly implying that I should pay the extra £5pcm, otherwise I could expect a penalty. This kind of tactic has a name: it's blackmail.
