Apple has quietly introduced a discount on film rentals in the UK, in the form of a weekly title for just 99-pence.

This weeks 99p film is a classic action thriller starring Robert DeNiro, 'Ronin'. The $20 million picture tells the story of a gang of thieves hired to intercept a briefcase from another gang. The hirelings never get told who they are robbing.

In related news, DC Comics have just made their television content available through iTunes in the UK, offering up original 1940's Superman clips from Max Fleischer and the more recent made for TV show, Batman Beyond. The complete animated series of Superman and Batman are also available.

The comics industry is looking closely to the iPhone and the iTunes service, it emerged from Comics Con last week. For example, Spiderman creator, Stan Lee, has reached a deal to publish his latest comic book series, ‘Time Jumper’, online and on digital devices - iPods, mobile phones, and also as a traditional comic book.
