Tue, 16 Feb 2010 Condé Nast plans iPad versions of GQ, Vanity Fair and Wired magazines
"We look at (iTunes) as a digital newsstand," said Sarah Chubb, president of CondéNet
Publisher Condé Nast is planning Apple iPad versions of popular titles including GQ, Vanity Fair and Wired magazines. "We look at (iTunes) as a digital newsstand," said Sarah Chubb, president of CondéNet.
Meanwhile, Wired Magazine Editor-in-Chief Chris Anderson made an announcement at last week's Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) conference saying the publisher would have a digital version for the iPad ready by summer.
"I’m from the media world, and as you may have heard, we have lots of questions about our future. The good news is I think we found part of the answer…. We think this is a game changer," Anderson told the audience.

Wired Creative Director Scott Dadich worked with Jeremy Clark from Adobe, for the last six months, to design the iPad version of Wired magazine, which was demoed at the TED conference.
While iPad magazine pricing has yet to be confirmed, many expect cheaper subscriptions than actual physical copies. Pricing is likely to be a key point with publishers as Apple retains 30 per cent of sales, which may seem less attractive to many hoping to establish long-term subscription plans.
Condé Nast already offer a number of applications via the Apple iTunes App Store. The latest February edition of GQ costs £1.79.
Condé Nast publishes a number of titles including Vogue, W, Glamour, Allure, Gourmet, Bon Appétit, Condé Nast Traveler and The New Yorker.
