The E2350 is one of LG’s latest releases. It’s a slim, attractive 23in monitor with an equally attractive price tag. However, it’s probably more suitable for home use than for professional design work.

Home users will certainly appreciate the slimline design, as the monitor panel is less than an inch thick, and the stylish control panel on the lower-right corner of the screen consists of a set of touch-sensitive controls that glow with a subdued purple tint. The E2350 uses a backlit LED display that produces a bright and vividly coloured image, which works well when playing video, and the 1,920 x 1,080 resolution means it can play full HD video as well. However, like most of the other low-cost models in this group, the E2350 has a relatively limited colour gamut. It should be perfectly adequate for home users who want to do a spot of photo editing, and even for business users who want to do some presentations or simple page-layout work. However, professional designers and photographers who need more accurate colour reproduction will want to opt for the NEC or Eizo monitors that have a wider colour gamut.

The rest of the E2350’s features also tend to focus on home users and entertainment. The on-screen controls include modes for watching films and sports programmes, and there are HDMI and headphone connectors tucked around the back. The base of the stand can be removed, allowing you to sit the monitor low on the desk right next to a laptop, but you can’t adjust the height of the monitor for comfort during long work sessions.

A price tag of well under £200 makes the E2350 a bit of a bargain, and it’ll be ideal for home users who want an attractive monitor to use with a Mac mini or a MacBook. However, designers and photographers who use their Mac for work will probably prefer something a little more business-like.
