Tue, 14 Sep 2010 EyeTV Sat review
Free-to-air digital satellite TV shows on your Mac, including HD channels.
- Manufacturer: Elgato
- Pros: Watch digital satellite HD TV; easy to set up and use
- Cons: Not portable; can’t watch & record; need a CAM and smartcard to watch pay-TV channels
- Price: £179.95
- Star rating:

The EyeTV Sat makes it easy to watch and record free-to-air digital satellite TV shows on your Mac, including HD channels.
On the back is a single post for connection to a satellite LNB. We’d have liked a twin LNB option that would allow you to watch one channel while recording another simultaneously. The front of the EyeTV Sat includes a Common Interface (CI) slot, so you can use it with a CAM and subscription cards supplied for certain pay-TV services.

Like the DTT Deluxe, the EyeTV Sat comes bundled with EyeTV 3.0, which makes it a breeze to watch satellite TV on your Mac. EPG information is updated via tvtv and you get a year’s subscription free.
