Tue, 09 Aug 2011 Touro Mobile Pro review
The Touro includes free online backup
- Manufacturer: Hitachi
- Pros: Attractive, slimline design; 3GB cloud storage included
- Cons: No FireWire interface; needs to be reformatted for Macs
- Price: £65 500GB
- Star rating:
You get two levels of protection from the Touro drive, as you can copy your important files onto the 500GB hard drive itself, and also onto the free ‘cloud’ storage that Hitachi provides for online backups.
The glossy black portable drive has a USB 3 interface only, but that will still work with the USB 2 ports on any Mac, as well as giving owners of new Thunderbolt machines the option of using a Thunderbolt adaptor for higher speeds in the future.
The drive is sold pre-formatted for use with Windows PCs, so you’ll need to reformat it before using it with a Mac – taking care not to delete Hitachi’s Backup software from the drive while doing so.
