Mon, 23 Apr 2012 Adidas Sennheiser PMX 680i review
Despite the packaging and the plasticky build, these sports headphones are comfy and boast impressive sound quality
- Manufacturer: Sennheiser
- Pros: Secure, comfortable fit; bold and attractive colour scheme; surprisingly good sound quality
- Cons: Plasticky look and feel; neckband could cause minor problems for glasses wearers
- Price: £44.99
- Star rating:
Our first impressions of the Adidas Sennheiser PMX 680i earphones weren’t great. For one thing, the packaging is ridiculously excessive: not very green.
The product itself didn’t strike us as particularly impressive at first, either. Granted, the bold but simple colour scheme is nice enough. But the plasticky headphones and neckband seemed cheap and basic. We therefore didn’t expect much in terms of comfort, or audio quality.
But we were wrong. We took the headphones for a good run, and achieved the ideal situation: we could forget about them completely, and just concentrate on the pleasure of the music, and the agony of the exercise.
As for audio, bearing in mind the mid-level price tag, the fact that they’re in-ears rather than over-ears and the generally limited quality of the competition, we thought the sound quality was outstanding, with surprisingly forceful bass and a realistic reproduction of quieter tracks.
