Apple has surpassed Dell in terms of laptop sales in the lucrative US higher education market
Apple has surpassed Dell in terms of laptop sales in the lucrative US higher education market, Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook told the Goldman Sachs Technology Investment Symposium this week.
As reported by 9-5 Mac, the senior Apple executive - who reports directly to Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, said: "We just received word on Monday that Apple surpassed Dell as the number one supplier of portables to US higher education for 2007."
His statement was hidden within Cook's extensive presentation to analysts at the conference this week, and is a sure sign of the company's resurgence.
Speaking last year, Apple's director of EMEA education markets, Herve Marchet, exclusively told Macworld UK the company grabbed 19.6 per cent of the European education market in the third quarter of 2007.
