One of the helpful new features in Apple’s Pages ’09 (£69 as part of the iWork ’09 suite) is that you can insert the current file’s name into your document – useful if you print a lot of documents and want to identify the name of the file on the printout quickly. To add a file name, move your cursor to where you want to place the name and then select Insert?Filename.

Of greater use, still, is the facility that allows you to include the path to the file so you can locate it easily. After inserting a file name, double-click on it. A tiny box will appear. Select Show Directory Path and your file name will appear with the full path to the file included.
