Hi, i'm sure this is super basic, but i a cutting a project on FCP version 3. i've cut heaps of stuff but this is the first project shot in widescreen and i can't find any setting to be sure i'm importing it right...any tips?

You have to ensure that you flag your footage as Anamorphic on capture. This will ensure that FCP will display the footage correctly in the viewer and canvas. Also, you need your sequence settings to reflect that fact.

If you haven't captured any footage yet, go to Audio/Video settings.
Select Sequence Presets tab and click on the preset you are set up to work in ie DV PAL. Select EDIT and ensure the ANAMORPHIC 16:9 box is enabled. All sequences created will now expect anamorphic media.
Select Capture presets and the same making sure the Anamorphic 16:9 box is enabled. Now FCP is configured to
view and edit you project correctly.

If you have captured already without enabling the Anamorphic 16:9 box in the capture preset, you can flag the clips as anamorphic in the browser

PS FCP 6 makes this so much easier and with all the other enhancements to FCP from version 3, it's got be worth think of upgrading!!
