Earlier this week the UK Final Cut User Group held their second meeting which was a huge success. The venue was completely full as Final Cut Pro 4 was demonstrated to the audience for over an hour.

Jonathan Smiles (www.digitalsafari.net) then spoke about working with uncompressed video before giving away the fantastic prize of an £800 Deck-Link PCI card.

Rick revealed a bug in Quicktime 6.3 which affects Capture performance. Other users have reported similar problems to Rick, however, there has been nothing from the Americans on this issue. Perhaps it is a PAL only problem. The solution is to use Quicktime 6.2. and not Quicktime 6.3. See the UK Final Cut User Group Forum for Rick’s post concerning the issue (www.ukfcug.com).

Now please!!! I want your films. I will be at Macworld, New York, in the middle of this month for a meeting of the Final Cut Pro User Group Network, of which the UK Final Cut User Group is a part. Each user group will be represented by a 15 minute reel of films produced by it’s members. This reel will be shown in a continuous loop throughout the 4 day conference. Please get your films to me by Friday of next week (11th July) and I will edit these down to screen in New York.

There is still plenty of excitement to come this year. On the horizon is DVD Studio Pro 2, Shake 3, and the G5’s. I’ll be giving a full report after Macworld.
