My Apple Store order shipped on the 20th January.
I have checked on the Apple Store tracking page every day. There has been no new information on there, no tracking number, no tracking status, nada.
On the weekend I used the Delivery Reference number from the shipping confirmation email on the TNT website to see whether I could find anything there. No. Nothing. Zip. Zilch.
Today, there was still nothing on the Apple Store tracking page, so I tried the delivery number on the TNT site again.
Now it tells me that delivery has been attempted but no-one was home, and the item is being returned to Apple.
I phoned TNT, who informed me that they had attempted delivery on two occasions (both of which were when people were available to take delivery). However, they say that they were unable to deliver.
Furthermore, they did not leave any note / advice slip to let anyone know that delivery had been attempted. I questioned TNT as to why this was.
They said it was not their policy to leave advice slips, and that as they only deliver to businesses (not consumers) and businesses are always there during their delivery schedule, it would not be a sensible thing to implement.
Obviously this is of interest to any consumers ordering from the Apple Store, that their delivery company think you are a business - and despite the fact that you provided your telephone number at the time of placing your order, no-one will bother using it to advise you of anything.
TNT's fantastic solution was to contact Apple, but Apple are not available, their phone number isn't even working.
What happens now is anyone's guess. I've emailed Apple but expect I won't hear from them until mid February. In the meantime my item will probably return to Singapore / Ulan Batur / Nepal and I will be left chewing my own leg off in frustration.
WHY DID I ORDER FROM APPLE STORE!? WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING USING THE APPLE STORE - DON'T BOTHER! SAVE YOURSELVES THE MENTAL ANGUISH, STRESS, and TORMENT!

floop1977,
I bought an extended warranty for an iPod a couple of weeks ago.
TNT delivered the paperwork today, in an envelope, which would have cost 50p to send First Class. In doing so, they woke up my wife, a nurse, who is working nights this week.
Not good... no wonder AppleScare is so expensive.

podgy dad,
It's a shame that TNT and Apple still have these issues. I have used the Applestore twice in the last 2 weeks to buy my iBook and my iLife 04 upgrade. The upgrade came by conventional post and arrived in 2.5 days, the site was quoting a build time of 4-6 days. My iBook was a BTO and had to be shipped from Taiwan. I was able to track it all of the way and the tracking site was never more that 12 hours out of date. It quoted 2 numbers, one was an Apple one and the other worked fine on the TNT site, which displayed exactly the same info.
I must be one of the lucky ones as I've NEVER had a problem with the Applestore in the last 3 years and I've put about £8-10,000 of business through them in this time.
BTW: My default settings with Apple are for them to deliver to work. I've registered my work address with my credit card company as an approved delivery location. I never have stuff delivered to my house, even though my wife si in most of the time. Perhaps this helps?

I had the same problem, i never got a tracking number but i ordered an emac last Saturday and I also never got a tracking number. Come the following wednesday i got a note from TNT saying they had tried to make a delivery. I rang them back and got them to redeliver the same day.
Strange i never got a tracking number and strange that i got a note through the letterbox and the policy from TNT is that they don't do it.
The eMac is fantastic however!

CrackedButter,
So let me get this straight.
TNT left a note advising delivery had been attempted at your location.
This despite me being told by three people that it was not TNT's policy to do so, as and I quote "we don't deliver to residential addresses".
I hate people who hide behind non-existent policies!
Interestingly the Apple Store help pages say that if delivery is attempted but unsuccessful, their couriers will leave an advice of delivery note.
Oh well I have emailed Apple twice and not heard back from them even though three days have passed.
I called Apple and they said they would reattempt deliver but my package was going back to The Netherlands before being re-routed back to me via the Congo.
I think I'm going to stand in the road outside my house with baloons and a flag to let the TNT driver know I'm at home, when he speeds past next time.

Still waiting for my order to be delivered...
It was originally shipped on the 20th January... nearly three weeks later I am still waiting...
Interesting how Apple's website claims that their courier's will leave a 'delivery attempted advice slip', but their courier TNT says it is their policy not to do so.
Oh well, daily calls to Apple resulted in me finally getting a consigment number from them today - except now that I've typed it in to the TNT website, I realise this is the original delivery consignment number... the one which they claim they attempted to deliver on two occasions... occasions during which time I was available to answer the doorbell, and yet they didn't ring (or leave a note).
AAAAAAARGH

Still waiting... STILL not been delivered... 24 days and counting for Apple's 'Express' shipping service.
If they'd plonked it on the back of the nearest snail and given it vague directions, it could have been here quicker...

Oh dear - this doesn't sound good for my order. I ordered on 12th December - they finally told me that it shipped on Friday 13th feb. However since then there has been no tracking information at all. Will it arrive??
I'm well pissed off with the Apple Store UK, this was a huge order - £7.5k, (I had Apple Store people commenting 'this is a big order' so it is clear they don't get many orders of this size) I got a small discount, but most of that has been whittled away by price changes - e.g. Soundtrack. At one point my order was due to be despatched on 21/1/04. That stayed up on the site for 3 weeks, until last week. Then it changed to December last year. They must have some very impressive order management software.
When I started asking about compensation (I paid up front) I was told that no discussion about that could happen until I received the goods. I guess they think once I see the shiny boxes I'll forget about the delay. The supervisor said 'There was a finance issue' I said 'yes - for 12 hours, then it was resolved.' She said, 'well that's what it says here'. Yet I received three emails from them telling me it was a stock problem. Frankly, it looks incompetant.
They were quick to take my money - now it seems that the customer's position in the business is somewhere at the bottom of the rubbish skip. They have also managed to make two further charges to my bank account without my authorisation and for no reason!
The phone call to them once (if) the order is ever delivered will be intersting. It's just as well I'm a Mac lover - I'd have gone away long ago if it was for a Dell or something like that.

Jaded,
My order finally arrived yesterday.
Shipped on 20th January. Delivered 16th February. Express delivery, my a_r_s_e.
The Apple Store's order tracking page is useless.
However, there are two other ways that may work to track your package. Go to your shipment notification email, and find the delivery number (starts with 8).
Then go to www.tnt.com, select TNT express and click GO, put the number in the tracking box, select Reference (not Consigment which is default) and click Go.
If TNT are carrying it, it will show up there.
Alternatively go to www.apecode.com, click on K&N tracking link, plonk in the code there, and click Go. If Kuehne & Nagel are shipping it, it will show up there.
Good luck.

Oh well, I spoke too soon. It's been delivered in Holland, and doesn't show up on the Kuehne-Nagel tracking page. Very odd.
Did get a phone call from Apple today though, my order got squeezed between two systems as they were changing over....

Jaded,
They were apparently "changing over" systems during October last year too - maybe it's the same change over still in progress!
Apple make great products... pity that the Apple Store's logistics are so godawful.
I have only had negative experiences, from start to finish.

Well, the stuff arrived on Friday.
So I phoned AppleStore about the compensation. They offered me the price of an iSight. £119 pounds compensation for a £7.5k order that was ordered at the beginning of December.
I spent a while on the phone with the Supervisor. That is their policy - and the compensation is in line with what their competitors offer. If I'd wanted to go to a competitor I would have done. I pointed out that the build time at the time of order was a max of 7 days - he said 'Oh, that's only an estimate."
I ordered Soundtrack 1.0 for £240. Since then v 1.2 has come out and it's now £149. Could I have the difference back please? No - I entered into a contract at £240 - so I'm stuck with it. (They actually delivered 1.2!) So the prices are binding - but the build times are created in cloud cuckoo land.
You know, whilst on the phone I realised that I thought I was a customer, they thought I was a dork, a cash cow, a sop. They'd had my money for 11 weeks, and that was all they could offer?
So, I came off the phone to them and phoned my nearest John Lewis. They had £4.5k worth of the stuff in stock - so I went and bought it there. AppleStore are now processing the refund and giving me the compensation. If they had offered me 250 I'd have begrudgingly accepted, but their 'policies' don't allow it. Well, screw them!
I ordered from where I thought I'd get the best service, the best stock situation and it took 11 weeks. I phoned John Lewis and had the stuff back at my house 2 hours after the phone call. Why the hell didn't I do that first of all???
Buying from the AppleStore is a lottery. I won't be doing that again unless they are the only stockists.

You tried calling Apple. ha ha ha After trying to get a new mac repaired under warrenty for over a month, I thought I'd try to speak with their customer serivces department. Over 30 mins later of being told that the lines were particulary busy because of the SUCCESS of recent product launches I had to give up. ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!! ah!!
