I am loading an iRiver IHP140 with mp3s from an iMac and the player always ends up showing twice the number of files that I have actually loaded. This is because for every mp3 that it loads (e.g. Elements.mp3) it also loads a 0kb file called ._Elements.mp3

Unfortunately I don't think these files can't be deleted because they can't be seen in the iMac directories, they only register on the mp3player screen.

I suppose it's just a cosmetic thing, I would rather the thing didn't say I had 500 songs when I only have 250. But if anyone knows how to avoid the dreaded ._ or can explain what they are, I'd be very grateful.

dannyhunter,

They are resource forks. They are on your Mac, you just can't see them and you don't really want to delte them. I'm surprised that a Mac compatible player isn't equipped to handle them though.

Thanks J.P., I'll put something in the iRiver suggestion box and see if they can't fix it in a firmware update.

Cheers.
