I'm new to FCP4 and am starting my first capture.

A problem/question: Before capturing I can't hear the audio as I play the Camcorder through the G5, but I can see the audio levels illuminating so am definitely receiving sound. I can also hear it after capture but not before?

Can anyone help me? None of my books say whether you can monitor audio before capture.

Thanks

Hi Phil and welcome to the world of FCP, I'm sure yiu'll be very happy!

Yes, this is the correct operation. You will not hear the audio from your tape if you are digitising through Firewire. You will bea ble to hear it through your system speakers once it's been captured though (depending on your Audio output setup on your system).

If you wish to montior the audio going into (or out of) the system, set up a couple of desktop speakers to the audio out jack of the camera/deck.Hope this helps

Chris

chris.roberts,

Thanks ever so much. Though I'm used to using avid I'm becoming a big FCP fan.

Thanks again

Phil
