At the risk of stating the obvious, have you tried selecting the frame you want in your 1280x720 sequence, then choose Export --> Using QuickTime Conversion from the file menu, then selecting Movie to still image (and an appropriate compressor)? |

You've got me stumped - an MPEG still image sounds a bit of an oxymoron, and whilst I can imagine a case for something like this (though it brings me back to the CDi days and combining layers in realtime on a playback device), it's the sort of esoterica that mainstream packages don't support... |
