I've seen a simple Audio Restoration tool for archiving LPs and casettes,it's called 'Spin It Again'and I really like the look and simplicity of it, but it's not for Mac - is there something very close that would work on a Mac, apart from Finyl Vinyl, Audacity, or Amadeus.

klthompson,

final vinyl and Audacity do a pretty good job in most cases.

What is it that you want to do that those apps can't do ?

Most automatic audio restoration processes can be somewhat disappointing unless you spend megabucks on some high-end tools to do the job. Reading about an audio restoration tool is one thing, hearing the results that you get on your material may be a different matter.

In most cases you can get excellent results by using basic tools and doing some of the work yourself. Those results are often better than from automated software.

klthompson,
If you buy Toast you get a copy of CD Spin Doctor that includes filters and repair tools.

There are more advanced tools such as BIAS SoundSoap but you may be paying more money.

AlanAudio,
Thanks, I'll try Audacity again, last time it kept crashing as did Amadeus. Spin Doctor could be worth investigating too.

vsmith1,
Thanks, what would be the cheaper option of getting Spin Doctor? - sounds and looks interesting.

klthompson, both Audacity and Final Vinyl have worked OK for me. However not sure if the filters supplied with Audacity work to well. I tried to remove clicks and pops but didn't seem to make a difference.

Would like to hear from others re cleaning up vinyl transfers.

The best vinyl cleaner is Click Repair. It has really worked well on old recordings from Vinyl & also removing static from old FM recordings.

I can't fault it.
