Intro

Facebook’s iPhone app has come on leaps and bounds since it was first introduced. Now, not only does it allow you to access your Timeline (the new-look profile which was made available to all users in December), it also lets you upload photos, and comment on and like your own and others’ snaps.

Most importantly for embarrassing your friends (until they get a chance to untag themselves), Facebook’s iPhone app lets you tag the people in an image when you upload it, as well as going back and tagging images that you’ve previously uploaded. Here’s how to tag a photo using Facebook for iPhone.

Step 2 of 5: Step 1: Get started

Launch the Facebook app and then tap the ‘three lines’ menu button in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Scroll down and select Photos (under Apps), which will display a list of all the albums you’ve uploaded to the social network. Hit the + icon in the top right-hand corner.

Step 3 of 5: Step 2: Add a new image, or tag an old one

Do you want to capture a new image and tag that, or tag one that’s already stored on your iPhone’s camera roll? We’re going to take a new one: to do likewise, select Take Photo or Video. Then snap a picture as usual and select Use. Alternatively, select Choose From Library and pick a suitable snap in the camera roll.

Step 4 of 5: Step 3: Find your friend

Now tap on the person you want to tag and start typing their name. Facebook will suggest suitable members of your friends list. Pick the one you want to use – or simply type in the full name if the person isn’t friends with you – and select Next. Finally, you’ll be taken to the Add Photos screen; hit Post.

Step 5 of 5: Step 4: Tag an old Facebook album

Tagging images you’ve already uploaded to Facebook is basically the same – you just have to add one new step. Browse through your Facebook albums and choose a photo. Then tap the arrow icon at the top right, and pick Tag Photo. Now you can start typing your friend’s name as before.
