When you sign up for Netflix using the iPhone, iPad or Apple TV app then you are given the option of using iTunes billing to pay for your subscription.

The 'iTunes billing' feature makes it easy to subscribe to services like Netflix, by paying for it monthly using your App Store account, just as you would any other app.

But what happens when you want to cancel your Netflix subscription? While you can't cancel via the Netflix website, you can cancel it using your iPhone, iPad or Mac - here is where we show you how. We've also got tutorials about accessing Netflix US content in the UK, and how to download Netflix videos on your Mac, if that's your bag.

How to cancel Netflix in iTunes on iOS

Cancel Netflix through your iTunes subscription settings

If you signed up for Netflix and opted to pay for the monthly subscription using your App Store / iTunes account, then you may find the option to remove it somewhat obscure.

Although users that signed up via the Netflix website or Android apps can cancel via the app, those that subscribed using their Apple ID must unsubscribe via the Apple ID subscriptions menu.

Here is how to cancel Netflix on iTunes on an iPad or iPhone:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap iTunes & App Store.
  3. Tap Apple ID. Enter your Apple ID and password if required.
  4. Tap View Apple ID.
  5. Enter your password (or use Touch ID) to unlock your Account.
  6. Tap Subscriptions.
  7. Tap Netflix.
  8. Set Automatic Renewal to Off.

Your Netflix subscription will run to the end of your subscription cycle (normally a month), then the Netflix app will deny you access to its streaming library and Apple will stop taking the monthly Netflix charge.

If you want to re-subscribe to Netflix at any time, you can use the Netflix app or change the Renewal Options under your Apple ID Subscription settings.
