Microsoft Announces New 'Surface' Tablet PC

The software giant has jumped into the tablet fray with a device it says will make the most of its Windows 8 OS.

As many had speculated, Microsoft has announced a new tablet PC at an event in Los Angeles.

The new device, called Surface, will run Microsoft's is designed to exploit the mobile capabilities in the new Windows 8 operating system.

Microsoft is releasing two versions of the device, one running Windows RT (for consumers) and one running Windows 8 Pro (for business use).
