While there is much more to both Microsoft's new Surface tablet computer and Apple's iPad than pure specifications, the physical and technological differences between the two devices are likely to play a part in which device tablet PC buyers might ultimately favor.

Here's a look at how the market-leading iPad shapes up against the new Microsoft Surface. Figures are taken from each company. Microsoft cautions the physical dimensions of the Surface could change slightly from those announced Monday.

Mmmm, neither fish nor fowl comes to mind. Also, haven't they used 'Surface' for something else entirely? Nothing like confusing potential customers!

Here we go again! It's coming ... soon. No talk yet of battery time or price. It's another example of Microsoft Vapourware.

Pity, it should give some competitiveness even though it's 30 months too late!

Just like comparing a workhorse with a unicorn. Only one of them is real.

Do you think that when they chose 10.6 as the screen size Snow Leopard was just released? You'd think they'd have remembered that 10.8 comes out next month...
