New photographs showing what is claimed to be the aluminium back casing of Apple’s rumoured iPad mini have surfaced, showing a 7.85in tablet with a smaller dock connector and speaker grills that resemble the ones found on leaked iPhone 5 parts.
The photos, which came from Chinese website digi.163, also that the back plate has cut outs for a rear facing camera, volume buttons, power button and hold button.
However, from what we can see in the images, the device is thicker than previous rumours suggest the smaller iPad will be. It is expected that Apple’s iPad mini could be as thin as the iPod touch.
There is a possibility that Apple will unveil the iPad mini at its 12 September iPhone 5 event, but the current consensus is that Apple will host a second event in October to announce the device.

Leaked parts, details and specifications of the iPad mini seem to be picking up pace. Just yesterday, we reported that an iPad mini die cast mold was spotted at IFA.
