Watch out Thor, Apple now owns Lightning.
According to a filing at the EU Patent & Trademark Office, Apple has acquired the Lightning trademark from Harley-Davidson.
The transfer appears to have occurred on 24 November, 2012, according to Patently Apple. The trademark was originally filed in 2003 and registered in 2005. The expiry date is listed as 29 October 2013, ten years after it was originally filed.
This is a partial transfer that allows Harley-Davidson to retain its rights to use the trademark for motorcycle related items.
Patently Apple notes that Apple has protected the trademark for uses associated with television sets, games, computer game programs, eye glasses and eyeglass frames.
