Consumer Reports, a respected American publication that reviews and compares products, has ranked the iPhone 5 as one of the worst high-end smartphones available on US networks in its latest issue.
While CR hasn't yet voiced the reasons behind its rating of the iPhone 5, the February 2013 of the magazine ranks the iPhone 5 as one of the poorer smartphones available on American carriers AT&T and Sprint, behind the LG Optimus G and the Samsung Galaxy S3, in its monthly Hot List.
On Verizon, another popular carrier in the US, the iPhone 5 doesn't even appear in the top three highest scoring smartphones, with the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD, Droid RAZR HD and the Samsung Galaxy S3 ranking the highest on the network.
Is Apple losing its edge? Many, including CR and even Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, seem to think so. But 2013 is set to be a busy year for Apple, with speculation suggesting a new biannual product cycle for the company, which could see a new iPhone, iPad and iPad mini launch before July, and another towards December.

Phone customers are more fickle than Desktop PC customers, chances are Apple will gradually lose market share (of smart phones), while at the same time still gain revenue from a growing phone market, but that's only to be expected, it started from a position of revolutionising the smartphone market and was the only real player for a while. It's inevitable others will now catch up and some will inch ahead.
