Ever needed a way to charge your iPhone while out camping? A new video shows how fire or ice can charge an iPhone using a thermoelectric generator.
Kip Kedersha, better known as Kipkay, posted the video on YouTube earlier this month. It shows the science project expert, who has more than 1.2 million subsribers, using a camping fire to charge his iPhone while also cooking an egg.
Of course, you don't want to put your iPhone straight into the fire, but by creating a stove using an empty coffee can and then attaching the thermoelectric generator and a USB to 30-pin cable to the side, Kipkay shows that a small fire can be used to charge any mobile device from a safe distance away.
Among Kipkay's other videos are the lasers vs iPhone 5 and lasers vs iPad 3 videos, which show how the two Apple devices stand up to over 6 watts of lasers. We'll give you a clue: it doesn't end well.
