Wed, 07 Jan 2009 iBand for iPhone review
Keep your iPhone safe with this case
- Manufacturer: Tech 21
- Pros: High-end shock absorption, unobtrusive design
- Cons: Screen is a bit vulnerable, fit could be better
- Price: £24.99
- Star rating:
Tech 21 makes some pretty strong claims as to the iPhone-protecting credentials of the iBand. Apparently it has a lining made of ‘intelligent molecules’ that are made for a soft and supple material that lock together upon impact to absorb shock.
The website has a video with a snowboarder whacking his friend on the knee with a spade, to demonstrate the material’s qualities, and the d3o material also appears in clothing made by scooterwear brand Armadillo.
The cast doesn’t offer much more than shock absorption – there’s no protection for the screen, and it’s basic aesthetically. It’s really a rubbery band that goes around the edge of your iPhone – there are bumps to let you use the hardware buttons, but operating the volume switch is tricky, while the vibrate button is out of bounds.
