- Star rating:

Jays is known for super-tiny earphones, such as the rather pricey q-Jays. However, its c-Jays headphones are a lot cheaper and provide really good audio quality.
We weren’t expecting much from the c-Jays at first, as their lightweight plastic design actually looks rather cheap and cheerful. However, the c-Jays produce a really strong, crisp sound with just enough bass to give the music some real weight.
They don’t have the same frequency range as Audio-Technica’s AD700, so purists might prefer the slightly finer detail that you get from the AD700. However, the c-Jays do have a little more volume.
The audio quality is backed up by smart design. The headphones are very lightweight - just 73g - and the plastic headband and earpieces aren’t as fragile as they seem. The earpieces fold inwards for storage, so they’re very portable and the accessory kit includes a carrying pouch so you can just slip them into the pouch when you’re ready to travel.
In fact, the accessory kit is a bit of a highlight. As well as the pouch you also get an extension cable (just as well, as the standard cable is really short), along with an airline adaptor, 6.3mm stereo adaptor and even a ‘splitter’ that lets you plug in two sets of headphones at the same time.
Even better is the fact that you get three different sets of foam earpiece - the largest of which can cover your ears and turn the c-Jays into full-size ‘over ear’ headphones. There’s also a tiny set of earpieces that are designed for use in gyms, or when you’re out jogging.
With good sound quality, convenient lightweight design and useful accessories, the c-Jays represent excellent value.
