Beautifully designed photo app offers value for money, quality images

If you're a keen user of Instagram, the popular photo sharing platform for Apple iOS and Google Android users, you can generally spot a good photo app by simply noting hashtags. In recent days we've spotted #afterglow and #afterglowapp tagged under some excellent photos and was intrigued enough to do a Google search. Afterglow - Photo Editor, since renamed as AfterLight, from developers Simon Filip and Sangmook Lee has many of the tools found in other photo apps but combines them in such a clean and intuitive interface it's a joy to use, edit photos and create.
AfterLight currently offers a fairly modest range of filters, textures and particularly frames, with just seven available at launch, but these are all of a high quality, the square or round frame especially popular on Instagram. The choice of filters are all useable, don't simply turn your photos green and include a selection of worthy 'Guest Filters' created by Instagram users. Many of the filters are subtle and don't destroy artistically the original image the way some LOMO inspired or toy camera style apps can do. A selection of textures, created with 35mm film, are also nicely done, and like the filters and frames on offer can be adjusted to fine tune the look you want create.
AfterLight also comes with some essential editing tools to crop, straighten and rotate images, along with the ability to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, exposure, highlights and shadows. As you can import photos from your camera roll or photo library or simply shoot what you see, this means you can do all editing within one app. AfterLight, like many apps, allows users to share photos via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, email, camera roll and more, but thankfully does so at a high resolution quality that ensures your photos look good on any platform.
