As Bob Dylan once famously sang: "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows." Yet armed with Weather Pro for iPhone and iPod touch you can at least prepare for the best and worst of British weather. In a country where you can start the day in shorts, suntan lotion in hand, and end it wrapped in a blanket, wet and shivering, it pays to plan ahead.
Weather Pro differs significantly from Apple's own free Weather application, offering precise three-hourly updates throughout a 24-hour period rather than the generic weather symbols for the entire day. This way, you can at least plan with some certainty when to go out, or at worst if you must go out, take a coat, hat or umbrella with you. Select any three-hourly update and you can read a more detailed forecast, including wind speeds and humidity.
Checking over the last week or two, Weather Pro has proved a pretty accurate guide, with the ability to see detailed forecasts for the full week ahead as well as each day. This precision may be due to the information being supplied by a European company, rather than the many US originated and themed weather applications available on the Apple iTunes App Store.
It's A Rainy Day (Sunshine Girl). Weather Pro offers detailed information including three-hourly updates and radar and satellite views.
A last updated time and date gives an idea how recent the data is while you can search numerous destinations for local weather reports. These can be saved to your favourites, particularly useful if you travel or want to keep in touch with how the weather is elsewhere. As weather is generally a good talking point, we've saved Hull, Manchester, Falkirk, Ottawa, Brisbane and Dubai to our favourites to chat at length, should needs must, to friends and family at home and abroad.
Weather Pro also supports weather radar for the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Switzerland and USA as well as satellite pictures for Europe, America, Africa and Asia. These are animated and useful to see the day unfold ahead of you as you might on a TV weather forecast. Additionally, the user interface is simple and elegant considering the amount of information on view, the combination of blue and yellow particularly pleasing to the eye.
