Disney sees huge chance for iPhone gaming
Speaking to Bloomberg News this morning, Disney Interactive Studios general manager, Graham Hopper waxed positive on Apple.
Hopper was speaking to Bloomberg's Fred Fishkin at the E3 Media & Business Summit in Los Angeles. He discussed new gaming products, customer demographic changes, and the outlook for studio acquisitions.
The Disney executive seemed particularly excited about the Apple iPhone and its impact on the mobile gaming markets, telling Fishkin that Disney sees a "big opportunity" with Apple.
In related news, Medialets has tracked activity on Apple's new App Store, and finds that while the majority of traffic there is generated by the many free apps which are available, its games that lead the pack when it comes to paid purchase.
The analysis estimates Sega earned $4.9 million on first weekend sales of Super Monkey Ball, while PopCap's Bejeweled 2 took about $627,000 based on the predictions.
