Apple has placed orders for up to 25 million next-generation iPhones

Apple plans to sell up to 25 million of its not-yet-announced next-generation iPhone, reports claim.

The company has contracted Foxconn, its existing iPhone manufacturer, to build three million units of the new iPhone by the end of May. The contract calls for up to 25 million of the new products by the end of the next-gen iPhone’s lifecycle.

The report suggests manufacturing will begin in May, with June once again mooted as the likely launch point for the 3G iPhone, which is widely expected to be announced on 9 June during a keynote presentation at WWDC.
