O2 stores will open at 7am on 11 July to begin selling the iPhone 3G.

That's the latest information to emerge from O2, which yesterday warned customers it will only be prepared to sell one iPhone to each customer when the device launches in the UK.

"Orders will be placed on a first come first served basis," O2 warned, "we will be writing to you again before the 11th with details about how you can place your order."

O2 is offering the iPhone 3G to existing iPhone customers prior to the end of their existing contract, but conditional on taking up a new 18-month contract. The upgrade deal will be available between 11 July and 11 October: the 8GB iPhone 3G is free to existing customers on the £45 and £75 Pay Monthly tariffs for iPhone and £99 on the £35 tariff or new £30 tariff.
