Several reports have pointed to problems with iTunes crashing after installing the 2.2.1 software update on the iPhone. After running the update, a number of users have claimed that iPhones will no longer sync with iTunes. In some cases iPhones may sync for a short period of time, but eventually crash when attempting to delete songs.

Although one owner claims to have fixed the problem by running a full restore, other users have not been able to remedy the issue after a reset or a restore, or even re-installing iTunes. Apple has not yet verified if the update is the cause of the crashes, or when some form of solution might be available.

I had a hang up during Mail syncing. Had to restart my Power Mac G5 and restore my iPhone. Not sure if it is a permanent fix but it is ok so far.

My iTunes synchronisation with iPhone 3G started having the same issue last night..I've found that I cannot sync any DRM content or Applications.

Ringtones, Podcasts, Photos, Email, Contacts and Calendar are still working ok.

I did do a Full restore yesterday, without restoring a backup and built the device back up from scratch, but the minute it found any DRM content it crashed again.

This morning, I've successfully synchronised non DRM playlists and the applications I previously sychronised from iTunes, I have installed directly onto the phone from the App Store.
