Mon, 13 Jul 2009 DeviceLock survey warns of potential iPhone security threat
64 per cent said they had not taken any steps to secure company data
Computer security software specialists DeviceLock have warned companies are failing to appreciate the risks attached to iPhone use among employees following the results of a new survey.
The survey, conducted by Vanson Bourne, claimed that while 65 per cent of IT decision makers recognised that unauthorised users could access valuable company data through the iPhone, 64 per cent said they had not taken any steps to secure company data against this threat.
The survey also revealed that 40 per cent of businesses knowingly allow staff to download company data onto removable devices without any security provision.
DeviceLock research suggests that without security measures in place, employees, especially those who are made redundant or sacked, could abuse sensitive data.
Not surprisingly, DeviceLock recommends DeviceLock 6.4.1, currently in beta, as one solution for protecting business data.
"(This) will provide a secure way for companies to have more control over how employees use their iPhones as a business tool," Sacha Chahrvin, managing director at DeviceLock UK.

I'm surprised you bother to print this Press Release. Unless they are advertising in the magazine?
