GeoLife and PosiMotion have introduced Navmii, a personal turn-by-turn navigation application for the iPod touch.

The Navmii software, combined with PosiMotion's G-Fi mobile network/GPS router, provides turn-by-turn navigation for the iPod touch for the first time insists the makers.

iPod touch owners with both the G-Fi hardware and Navmii software will be able to use their iPod touch for satellite navigation with smart routing, interactive maps and spoken directions.

PosiMotion's G-Fi streams a precise GPS signal to iPod touch. Like the Navmii software, the G-Fi is a one-time cost, with no additional monthly costs or charges. It supports the whole iPod touch and iPhone family, providing GPS from one G-Fi to up to 200 Apple devices simultaneously when in range. It also allows for data sharing and network multiplayer gaming between Apple devices.

Available from the Apple iTunes App Store, the Navmii UK application costs £19.99 and requires the iPhone 3.0 Software Update or later.

An user manual and more information can be found at www.navmii.com.

Looks like a really cool app. I never really wanted an iPhone, but I was ready to get one so I could get GPS navigation. This makes my iPod even better now. I hope more apps start using posimotion's g-fi.

Seems like only half a product rushed out. Software app from iTunes, g-fi router only available from the US (web site gives no clue to shipping etc.), no car mounting solution. I want to buy a complete package not several items from as many suppliers to end-up with a proper functioning system.
