O2 Ireland will introduce the iPhone into that market on 14 March, the company confirmed last night.

The company has published its account of likely performance indicators for its fourth financial quarter, in which it confirms it will introduce the device on that date.

As in the UK, the iPhone will be made available through O2 retail stores and through branches of Carphone Warehouse. The 8GB model will cost €399, while the 16GB iPhone will cost €499. Tariffs will begin at €45 per month, the company explained.

This news emerges after the revelation that the most recent iPhone software update implements support for the O2 network in Ireland, and for T-Mobile in Austria.
