Wed, 25 Jun 2008 O2 offering iPhone pre-registration from 1 July
Reports claim iPhone customers will be able to pre-register for the device
UK customers may be able to sign up for an iPhone contract ahead of time, from 1 July, a report claims.
As put by MacRumors, the carrier will offer iPhone pre-registration at all O2 stores, customers will be able to have their contract setup and a unique registration code handed over. The contract will be paused (so it won't cost money), and then customers can return to the O2 outlet on 11 July to pick up their iPhone.
The O2 Ireland website lends a little legitimacy to these claims, saying: "iPhone 3G will be available exclusively from O2 Retail, O2.ie and Carphone Warehouse stores. It will be available to pre-order from 1 July."
The MacRumors report - which cites a single source, reckoned to be an O2 store employee - adds that the O2 shops may open at 7am on iPhone launch day.
